My first Published Article

Been meaning to post this for awhile. It is an article that I had written for a magazine not to long ago.

I WILL BE PUBLISHING MONTHLY ARTICLES IN THIS MAGAZINE. SOME OF THE VIEW POINTS ARE MINE, BUT A LOT OF THE TRAINING ISSUES AND SUGGESTIONS ARE A WEALTH OF INFORMATION GATHERED OVER THE YEARS FROM SOME OF THE TOP LAW ENFORCEMENT TRAINERS IN THE WORLD. I HAVE BEEN BLESSED TO HAVE BEEN TRAINED AND TO HAVE TRAINED WITH THESE EXCEPTIONALLY TALENTED INDIVIDUALS. I HAVE BEEN ASKED BY THE PUBISHER OF JERSEY SPORTING LIFE MAGAZINE TO WRITE AN ARTICLE ON WHAT I FEEL IS THE BEST HANDGUN FOR HOME DEFENSE. SO, LET’S GET STARTED BY FIRST SAYING THAT IF YOU ASK TEN DIFFERENT PEOPLE, YOU WILL GET TEN DIFFERENT ANSWERS. SINCE THIS IS MY ARTICLE, YOU ARE GOING TO GET MY OPINION. YOU MAY DISAGREE AND YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO. BUT, MAKE SURE YOU CAN BACK UP YOUR OPINION WITH FACTS. I HAVE HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO TRAIN A LOT OF PEOPLE FROM THE NOVICE TO VERY EXPERIENCED AND HAVE LEARNED A LOT FROM ALL OF THEM. UNLESS YOU ARE A VERY EXPERIENCED OPERATOR OR GUN HANDLER, MY EXPERIENCE IN TRAINING INDIVIDUALS WOULD LEAD ME TO SUGGEST THE 3” OR 4” BARREL, SIX SHOT REVOLVER. NOW, I KNOW SOME OF YOU ARE GOING BALLISTIC. REVOLVER!, THAT’S AN OUTDATED PIECE OF EQUIPMENT. REALLY! LET ME EXPLAIN WHERE I AM COMING FROM. THOSE OF YOU WHO KNOW ME KNOW THAT I AM NOT A GADGET GUY AND I FAVOR SIMPLE FUNCTIONAL SOLUTIONS IN SOLVING PROBLEMS THAT WORK QUICKLY AND EFFECTIVELY. WHEN DEALING WITH FIREARMS, THERE IS NOTHING SIMPLER THAN A WHEELGUN. IT IS EASY TO LOAD AS WELL AS UNLOAD. IT HAS A BUILT-IN SAFETY, WHICH IS THAT LONG HEAVY TRIGGER PULL, YOU REALLY NEED TO PRESS THROUGH IT TO MAKE THE GUN GO BANG. IF YOU PRESS THE TRIGGER AND YOU GET A CLICK, ALL YOU NEED TO DO IS PRESS IT AGAIN AND THAT SHOULD RESOLVE THE PROBLEM OF THE GUN NOT FIRING. THEY ARE AVAILABLE IN MOST OF THE MORE FORMIDABLE HANDGUN CALIBERS. THAT ALL SEEMS TO FIT INTO MY WORLD WHERE THE NUMBER 1 RULE IS THE KISS RULE (KEEP IT SIMPLE STUPID). THE SMALLER FIVE SHOT 2” BARREL REVOLVERS ARE NICE, ESPECIALLY FOR CONCEALED CARRY, BUT THEY ARE NOT AS EASY TO SHOOT AS THE LARGER 3’ OR 4” COMBAT REVOLVERS ESPECIALLY WITH THE HEAVIER 38 SPECIAL LOADS OR MORE POTENT 357 MAG. LOADS. FOR PRACTICE PURPOSES, IT’S A LITTLE DIFFICULT TO PRACTICE WITH YOUR GUN WHEN YOUR HAND IS FEELING AS IF SOMEOME SMACKED IT WITH A HAMMER AFTER YOU HAVE ONLY JUST FIRED A FEW ROUNDS. THE 5 SHOT 2” REVOLVERS ARE FOR EXPERIENCED GUN HANDLERSESPECIALLY THE AIRLITE’S. IF YOU ARE GOING TO OWN A HANDGUN FOR HOME DEFENSE, YOU BETTER PLAN ON PRACTICING A LOT SO THAT YOU BECOME PROFICIENT WITH IT. PURCHASING AND OWNING ANY TYPE OF FIREARM FOR SELF-DEFENSE IS A REALLY LARGE RESPONSIBILTY TO TAKE ON. WE WILL TALK ABOUT THAT IN FUTURE ARTICLES. WELL, THAT’S MY OPINION AND I GAVE YOU SOME FACTS TO BACK IT UP. THE CHOICE IS YOURS, BUT REMEMBER WHATEVER YOU CHOOSE, MAKE SURE YOU GET SOME GOOD TRAINING FROM AN EXPERIENCED CERTIFIED FIREARMS INSTRUCTOR.

ALWAYS COVER YOUR 6 & STAY SAFE!
