MISCONCIPTION

I sometimes post pictures that I find to be humorous and entertaining.  But, for anyone that really knows me well, they know that I take any issues in regards to firearms very, very seriously.  I took this picture off of Face Book and while the caption that accompanies it is has a lot of merit it can also be very misleading.  A firearms in the hands of a well trained operator will generally resolve the issues of defending one's self against a vicious imminent criminal assault.  However, a untrained, uneducated individual with a firearm is a disaster lurking under cover waiting to occur.  Don't make that fatal mistake of believing that you are safe and capable of defending yourself just because you have a firearm.  The firearm is just a tool and cannot act appropriately on it's own.  As I always state, owning a firearm is a big, big responsibility and having it for the purpose of defending yourself and your love ones take on additional responsibilities.  If you own a firearm and have not taken any type of formal training from a qualified and certified firearms instructor you are being very irresponsible and very foolish.
The cold hard fact is, and I quote from a former Navy Seal,
"UNDER STRESS AND INVOLVED IN A CRITICAL INCIDENT, YOU WILL NEVER RISE TO THE OCCASION, BUT WILL DECLINE TO THE LEVEL OF YOUR TRAINING".
If you have not had any type of training I would recommend a Basic Safety & Skill class as your first step at becoming a responsible gun owner!
